The bouncing back and forth from Cranston and the stage and the “show” (actually the film) doesn’t take the audience out of the moment. The film is doing a lot of work, actually. It’s at once a simple nod to ’50s sci-fi and a more complex exploration of … what? Humanity? Relationships? The inevitability of time marching on?Īlmost, or maybe kind of. Woodrow (known as “Brainiac”) and Dinah flirt in a more straightforward manner. Augie and Midge flirt from the windows of their little cabins across from each other, starting with him running lines with her. Macupdater desktop8/15/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This appears for me, for example, with Photoshop and Illustrator, because the Adobe Updater has to import the updates for the Creative Cloud. This button appears when there is a major version jump (for example from 2.3 to 3.1). MacUpdater can perform the update here - also automatically for many apps at the same time. There are different buttons on the right in the list: Once the scan is complete, you will receive a more or less extensive list of the apps that are available in the new version. By the way, the software has been localized in German for a few months, so that you don't have to deal with the English user interface (but with my Denglish it does!). If you run MacUpdater after the installation, it needs a few minutes (about 2 to 3 for me) to check which apps are installed on the Mac and which updates are available. You can read below what it brings compared to MacUpdater. CleanMyMac X also offers to take care of updates. Since I even installed the CleanMyMac X app, which also has an "updater" function, you can also directly compare what both apps find outdated software here. ![]() If you want to try out a software like MacUpdater, a situation like mine is exactly right: I have niche software like Aja System Test as well as classics like Adobe Creative Cloud or banking apps like MoneyMoney. At this point a reference to my old post "Flash deals the deathblow to himself". Just remember the Flash Player, which was already known as a changing security problem in the times of Steve Jobs, because the installation of the updates didn’t work as quickly as new security holes were found. Much more important are the plugged security holes, which can often be found in the small program updates. Obsolete software is not only a restriction in comfort, because you do without new features. It is not uncommon for managed problems to present security holes At the bottom of the MacUpdater window is the info line, in which you can see how many updates are available. To be honest, that surprised me and at the same time convinced me that MacUpdater makes perfect sense. My first scan with MacUpdater showed me that: 56 out of 94 apps on my Mac are out of date and need an update. In addition, not as many apps update automatically as I thought. If you have something urgent to do, this is not the best time. The disadvantage is that the updates are only offered when you start the software again. Usually apps check with the Sparkle Framework at the start, whether there is a new version and then they suggest the update, if one is available. ![]() So far, my instinctive argument against MacUpdater has been that in many cases you can do the updates in the software itself. The MacUpdater software and also Mac apps such as the freeware Latest I've known for years, but none of these apps made it onto my Mac until now. The MacUpdater software shows directly in the dock how many apps are waiting to be updated (screenshots: Sir Apfelot). And unfortunately in most cases these are the very few programs on a computer. What worked for me was manually starting the Surf Express application, clicking the clear cache button, and then restarting again."Īrmando Ramirez writes: "I also had the problem with Surf Express saying it was improperly installed, but I got rid of the Preferences File and it works fine now.In principle, you have a similar function here as in the AppStore under "Updates", except that MacUpdater serves all programs on the Mac, while the AppStore only has those apps on the screen that you have also installed via the AppStore. The problem was gone." Andre Heineberg confirmed this.Įdward Lovelace writes: "I had the same problem. This should fix the problem."Įdwin ten Dam writes: "I manually ran the Surf Express Proxy program in the Surf Express Data folder, which created new SE.database file. Terry Werkman writes: "If Surf Express asks to re-install from original disk, rebuild the desktop. But Kerry still had it with only Mac OS base extensions installed. Smith and others.)Īccording to Kerry Slane, Connectix currently suspects an extension conflict as the cause (as the problem does not happen to everybody). Some work-arounds were successful (such as manually selecting "Manual proxy" from Netscape's Preferences with an address of 127.0.0.1 and a port of 2400), but these work-arounds were unnecessary with Surf Express 1.1. Several readers have already reported the same problem with the Update: Web browsers, such as Communicator 4.04.x and Explorer 4.x, produce network connection errors and a dialog comes up that Surf Express was not installed correctly (".try reinstalling from the original disks"). Gold element uses8/15/2023 ![]() Less commonly, addition of manganese, indium, and other elements can produce more unusual colors of gold for various applications. Blue gold can be made by alloying with iron, and purple gold can be made by alloying with aluminium. Fourteen- and eighteen-karat gold alloys with silver alone appear greenish-yellow and are referred to as green gold. Fourteen-karat gold-copper alloy is nearly identical in color to certain bronze alloys, and both may be used to produce police and other badges. Alloys containing palladium or nickel are also important in commercial jewelry as these produce white gold alloys. Similar effects impart a golden hue to metallic caesium.Ĭommon colored gold alloys include the distinctive eighteen-karat rose gold created by the addition of copper. This color is determined by the frequency of plasma oscillations among the metal's valence electrons, in the ultraviolet range for most metals but in the visible range for gold due to relativistic effects affecting the orbitals around gold atoms. Whereas most metals are gray or silvery white, gold is slightly reddish-yellow. ![]() By comparison, the density of lead is 11.34 g/cm 3, and that of the densest element, osmium, is 22.588 ☐.015 g/cm 3. Gold has a density of 19.3 g/cm 3, almost identical to that of tungsten at 19.25 g/cm 3 as such, tungsten has been used in the counterfeiting of gold bars, such as by plating a tungsten bar with gold. Gold is a good conductor of heat and electricity. ![]() Such semi-transparent sheets also strongly reflect infrared light, making them useful as infrared (radiant heat) shields in the visors of heat-resistant suits and in sun visors for spacesuits. The transmitted light appears greenish-blue because gold strongly reflects yellow and red. Gold leaf can be beaten thin enough to become semi-transparent. A single gram of gold can be beaten into a sheet of 1 square metre (11 sq ft), and an avoirdupois ounce into 300 square feet (28 m 2). Such nanowires distort via the formation, reorientation, and migration of dislocations and crystal twins without noticeable hardening. It can be drawn into a wire of single-atom width, and then stretched considerably before it breaks. Gold is the most malleable of all metals. Certain gold salts are still used as anti-inflammatories in medicine.Ī gold nugget of 5 mm (0.20 in) in size can be hammered into a gold foil of about 0.5 m 2 (5.4 sq ft) in area. Gold is also used in infrared shielding, the production of colored glass, gold leafing, and tooth restoration. Gold's high malleability, ductility, resistance to corrosion and most other chemical reactions, and conductivity of electricity have led to its continued use in corrosion-resistant electrical connectors in all types of computerized devices (its chief industrial use). The world's consumption of new gold produced is about 50% in jewelry, 40% in investments, and 10% in industry. ![]() This is equal to a cube with each side measuring roughly 21.7 meters (71 ft). A total of around 201,296 tonnes of gold exists above ground, as of 2020. In 2020, the world's largest gold producer was China, followed by Russia and Australia. Gold coins ceased to be minted as a circulating currency in the 1930s, and the world gold standard was abandoned for a fiat currency system after the Nixon shock measures of 1971. In the past, a gold standard was often implemented as a monetary policy. Gold also dissolves in mercury, forming amalgam alloys, and as the gold acts simply as a solute, this is not a chemical reaction.Ī relatively rare element, gold is a precious metal that has been used for coinage, jewelry, and other arts throughout recorded history. Gold dissolves in alkaline solutions of cyanide, which are used in mining and electroplating. Gold is insoluble in nitric acid alone, which dissolves silver and base metals, a property long used to refine gold and confirm the presence of gold in metallic substances, giving rise to the term ' acid test'. Gold is resistant to most acids, though it does dissolve in aqua regia (a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid), forming a soluble tetrachloroaurate anion. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium ( gold tellurides). It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as in electrum), naturally alloyed with other metals like copper and palladium, and mineral inclusions such as within pyrite. Gold often occurs in free elemental ( native state), as nuggets or grains, in rocks, veins, and alluvial deposits. ![]() It is one of the least reactive chemical elements and is solid under standard conditions. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. It is a bright, slightly orange-yellow, dense, soft, malleable, and ductile metal in pure form. Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from Latin aurum 'gold') and atomic number 79. ![]()

Forspoken game xbox8/15/2023 ![]() If you want to run Forspoken at 1440p and 30 FPS, the requirements get even more demanding. ![]() Even for minimum specs, which will allow you to play at 720p and 30 FPS, you will need 16 GB of RAM, either a Radeon RX 5500 XT (with 8 GB VRAM) or a GeForce GTX 1060 (with 6 GB VRAM), and either a Ryor an i7 3770. Meanwhile, the game will also feature dynamic refresh rates and DirectStorage implementation on Windows 11 (with an NVMe SSD recommended for the latter).Īnd what exactly are the required specs if you want to play Forspoken on PC? Unfortunately, they’re quite hefty- almost surprisingly so, even on the lowest settings. The PC version will also feature support for ultra widescreen resolutions up to 32:9 (though only during gameplay) and 7.1 audio, while you will, of course, also be able to play with a DualShock 4 or a DualSense. ![]() For starters, the game will, of course, come with full HDR support, while Auto HDR is also confirmed for Windows 11. Square Enix has recently also revealed a host of new details on Forspoken’s PC version, and confirmed several features for it. As is always the case, that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how much space it will take up in your storage- but one way or another, you will need plenty of available storage space. On the PS5, for instance, the game will have a download size of a little over 87 GB. ![]() In fact, many improvements have been made to the demo itself as well, including adjusted text sizes, button mapping options, better lock on functionality during combat, and more.īased on everything that we’ve seen of Forspoken so far, there’s no doubting that it’s going to be a massive game- which, unsurprisingly, is going to be reflected in its download size as well. Players will also be able to craft items in camps.Ī demo of Forspoken has been available on PS5 for a while, and though reception has been pretty mixed, developer Luminous Productions has promised that several improvements are being made in the full game itself- like improved implementation of HDR. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a quick rest and not exactly close to one of these safe zones, you will also be able to set up camp and rest up. These are essentially safe zones free of the open world’s dangers that allow you to engage in various activities, including crafting, upgrading your equipment, unlocking Spellcraft Challenges, and more. While you’re out and about exploring the dangerous and untamed wilds of Athia and want to take a break, special locations known as Pilgrim’s Refuges will be your ultimate go-to. Interestingly, for those who don’t want to listen to too much of the banter between Frey and Cuff during gameplay, the game will give you the option to dial that down. As its name suggests, that can be used to scan the area around you for items and enemies, and can also reveal information on enemies’ weaknesses. On the combat front, for instance, Cuff can take damage in your stead, while he also has an ability called Cuff Scan. Meanwhile, players will also be able to find and take on mutated creatures and special bosses, or even play the dice game known as Partha, which can yield various buffs.Ĭuff – the magical, sentient bracelet on Frey’s arm – will not only be her constant companion and serve an important role in the story, he will have plenty of involvement on the gameplay front as well. Several other side activities have also been detailed- like Spellcraft Challenges, which will task players with using specific spells certain number of times in order to make them more powerful, or discovering all points of interests in the map, of which there are at least a hundred, according to the game’s Trophies. Meanwhile, Frey can also visit Monuments to Wisdom, where she can take on repeatable challenges called Flashbacks for a variety of rewards. Then there are the Locked Labyrinths, which (as the name suggests) are dungeons where you’ll encounter more powerful enemies, and be rewarded with new equipment upon clearing them. For instance, there are several monuments scattered across the open world of Athia (at least 50, as per the leaked Trophies list), which are fractions of power that you can liberate to increase your stats. To that end, here, as we count the days down to Forspoken’s launch, we’re going to go over a few key details that you should know about the game.Īs an open world experience, you’d expect Forspoken to pack in plenty of optional content, and sure enough, it looks like it will have quite a bit of side stuff to offer beyond its main story. We have, of course, covered those details extensively here at GamingBolt, but there’s still plenty to talk about. Square Enix has kept up the rollout of new details on Forspoken in the lead up to its launch for PS5 and PC on January 24, with more fresh information emerging on the upcoming open world action RPG at a pretty consistent rate. ![]()

The Royal Navy’s Type 23 frigates are due to be replaced by the five-strong Type 31 general purpose frigate, which recently was revealed to potentially have to undergo design changes even with the first two vessels already under construction, and eight new Type 26 frigates. The upcoming reissue of the Defence Command Paper, expected to be published before UK Parliamentary recess, could offer some indication of the fate of the remaining Type 23 frigates. However, the material state of some of the older Type 23 frigates is such that is it unknown whether all will be able to see out their scheduled service life. HMS Westminster, the oldest of the anti-submarine warfare variants (fitted with Sonar Type 2087), is due to leave service in 2028. The vessel was followed into the Frigate Support Centre ahead of completing LIFEX by HMS Iron Duke, with HMS Argyll and HMS Westminster due later that same year.Īlthough HMS Argyll had a planned out-of-service date (OSD) of 2023, the LIFEX is expected to see the vessel remain in service, potentially up to the 2027-2028 timeframe in order to maintain the already dwindling surface combatant numbers of the Royal Navy. In 2022 HMS Somerset completed a near-four-year service life-extension (LIFEX) programme, which required more than one million hours of refit work. The departure of HMS Iron Duke in 2025 is to be preceded by HMS Lancaster in 2024 and will be the last of the general-purpose variants to be decommissioned. Maarva and Clem see the approaching Republic forces as an imminent threat, stating. “This modernisation involves sensible planning, such as the recent completion of HMS Iron Duke’s Life Extension (LIFEX) programme, to balance availability and deliver value for money,” the spokesperson said. The they in question is apparently the Republic, as B2 exclaims that a Republic frigate is approaching. This equates to approximately 100 hours of refit labour spent for every hour left as a commissioned vessel in the Royal Navy.Ī Royal Navy spokesperson told Naval Technology that the fleet “continues to meet all operational requirements” at it transitions from the Type 23 frigates to the new Type 26 and Type 31 vessels. Scheduled to be the fourth of the Type 23 frigates to be decommissioned, HMS Iron Duke has around 17,000 hours of service life remaining. ![]()

Bing tries to use the water closet, but since he cannot leave his cell until the ad finishes, he finally loses his temper and proceeds to bash one of the screens until the glass shatters in shards. ![]() Lacking enough Merits to skip the ad, Bing tries to look away, but the automated systems emit an increasingly high pitched and louder beeping noise that only stops when he opens his eyes. One day, while playing a game in his cell, an advert for a new episode of WraithBabes featuring Abi appears. Bing attempts to intervene but is dragged away and, after goading from the judges and crowd, Abi, who has been drugged by the Cuppliance, reluctantly agrees despite Bing protesting offstage.īing returns to his cell without Abi and with very few Merits left, where he continues his daily routine listlessly. Judge Wraith casually remarks that her unease can be taken care of, and offers her the chance to be a pornstar on WraithBabes. He accompanies a nervous Abi to the audition, where she is required to drink a beverage called "Cuppliance" that is claimed to help settle her nerves.Īlthough Abi's rendition of "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is" impresses the three judges, Hope, Charity, and Wraith (Rupert Everett, Julia Davis, Ashley Thomas) and the crowd, they state they have no more room for a merely "Above Average Singer". After some consideration he decides to follow through with the purchase, which costs him almost all of his Merits. Bing manages to persuade Abi and, feeling there is nothing "real" worth spending his Merits on, purchases the ticket for her, only to realize the price has changed from 12,000,000 to 15,000,000 Merits. On another occasion, he overhears Abi singing in the toilet and encourages her to enter an X-Factor style game show called Hot Shots, where winners get to move into more lavish spaces and out of the slave-like world around them, no longer having to grind on a bike for Merits. Quake 3 arena demo server8/14/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah.like you've read any of this up until this point. More people working together = more damage = more win, win, win for you. This is where cohesive teamplay really comes in handy, as it takes a lot of damage to destroy the skull. In Overload the gist of the game is to destroy a skull in the opposing team's base. Basically you collect skulls from your downed enemies and run them into their base for points. In case you're wondering, Harvester is kind of like the Head Hunter mod. Internet play requires a 100% Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 compatible 28.8 Kbps (or faster) modem.125 MB of uncompressed hard disk space for game files.100% Windows /ME/NT 4.0 compatible joystick (optional).100% Microsoft-compatible mouse and driver.100% DirectX 3.0 or higher compatible sound card.100 MB of free hard drive space for the Windows swap file (in addition to install space).Windows /ME/NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 3) operating system.100% Windows /ME/NT 4.0 compatible computer system (including compatible 32-bit drivers for CD-ROM drive, video card, sound card and input devices).Pentium II 300 Mhz processor with 16 MB Video Card or K6-3 AMD 350 Mhz processor with 16 MB Video Card.3-D Hardware accelerator with full OpenGL support.New main-menu UI (includes descriptions of all gametypes and power-ups.3 Team Power-ups: Guard, Ammo-Regen, and Doubler.4 gametypes: Capture the Flag, One Flag CTF, Harvester, and Overload.1 female and 1 male model - including 2 character heads.1 map (which is enabled for all of the Team Arena game types).Single Player (with bots) and multiplayer functionality. The Quake III Team Arena demo includes the following: However, the retail version of Quake III: Team Arena will require the full retail version of Quake III Arena be installed. The Quake III: Team Arena Demo can be played without Quake III Arena installed on your system. Here are the full details on the demo directly from the readme text: I won't ruin that one for you.but let's just say RUN!!!!!!! It's a hoot to watch the opposing team scatter when you start firing a few of these babies into their ranks. You can also get them to stick on other players making them mobile suicide grenades. There's also a new weapon in the game - the Prox Launcher - which shoots proximity mines that stick to walls and explode when rival players get near. Did we mention the lighting effects? Oh, maybe that's because they're so impressive they burnt a hole in the part of our brain responsible for memory. Although there's only one arena to play in, the Inner Sanctum, there's a multitude of curved surfaces, clean textures, and plenty of glowing power-ups to play with. If you can believe it, the graphics in Team Arena look even better than in QIII: Arena. Because of this, the game requires a little more co-operation than Q3: Arena. And if you don't, you should read our preview. You probably already know that Team Arena is *gasp* a team-based game. The demo weighs in at a hefty 127MB, but we've been playing it for the past few hours, and we'll let you in on a little 's worth it. Oh, who gives a rat's ass.just make with the downloading and play the damn demo. ![]() While the word "exclusive" is pretty much useless when you talk about a medium like the Internet, remember where you saw it first. We're happy to be the first place on the Internet where you can download the Q3: TA stand alone demo (the full game will be an expansion pack and will require Quake III: Arena to play). Heck, we're giving it to you before the turkey's even cooked. Oh, who are we kidding?!? Quake III: Arena was one of the biggest games ever!!! Of course, as good as it was, we greedy gaming hogs just want more, more, more! And now id is going to give it to us this Christmas with Quake III: Team Arena.īut I know what you're saying: "I want to play it now!" Well consider id and IGNPC your collective Santa Claus then, because they gave us the demo and now we're giving it to you waaaaaay before Christmas. ![]() |
